Is boho and hippie the same?

Bohemian style, also known as boho, and hippie style are often thought to be similar or even interchangeable. However, while they do have some overlap, they are not exactly the same thing.

Boho style is characterized by a carefree, individualistic, and eclectic aesthetic. It is inspired by the counterculture of the 1960s and the bohemian lifestyle of artists and intellectuals. Boho style is often associated with loose, comfortable clothing, natural fabrics, layering, and unique accessories.

Hippie style, on the other hand, is a subculture that originated in the 1960s and is characterized by a rejection of mainstream values and a focus on peace, love, and social justice. Hippie style is often associated with tie-dye, fringe, and other elements that are inspired by the counterculture of the time.

While boho style and hippie style do share some common elements, they are not the same thing. Boho style is more about individual expression and personal style, while hippie style is more closely associated with a specific countercultural movement and set of values. However, it is common for people to mix and match elements of both styles to create a unique and individualistic look.
